My favourite Gravel/MTB routes in Noord-Holland what are yours? 🚵

I’m lucky enough to live close to two of the most enjoyable MTB routes in Noord-Holland, so let me start with those.

Schoorl is, for me, the most beautiful route in the Netherlands and the toughest. Loose sand, punchy little climbs through the dunes and beautiful views across the forest and dunes… I keep coming back. A joy every time, and completely wrecked afterwards. 😄

Spaarnwoude is a completely different experience. To me, it feels more like a skills park than a classic MTB route, with short climbs, and technical features to play on. It’s perfect for a quick and brutal session I love it.

Both routes are maintained by the volunteers of MTB-Noordwest. A huge thank-you to them! 🙏 Without their work, these trails wouldn’t be in such great shape.

A little farther from home is Texel. That island always makes me happy: the laid-back atmosphere and some wonderful gravel riding. For gravel closer to the Randstad, the MTB route Hoofddorp is surprisingly good too.
