Procedure

  1. Position the cutter close to the desired cut point

    with the cable supported on both sides.
  2. Squeeze with one firm motion.

    Multiple half-presses fray the cable.
  3. For housing:

    cut between the coils, then check the inner liner is open and round. If the liner is crushed, push a pick or awl through to reopen it.
  4. For inner cables:

    crimp a cable end cap on immediately to prevent fraying. Squeeze with the rounded jaws of pliers (not the cutting jaws — that severs the cap). ---
