Lay out a parts tray
before starting any job. Magnetic trays save you from lost spring clips and tiny pinch bolts. -
Keep tools within arm's reach
of the stand — pegboard mounted on the wall behind the stand is ideal. -
Have rags and degreaser pre-positioned.
You will get dirty hands; not having a rag ready means greasy fingerprints on the saddle, controls, and your phone. -
Photograph the bike before disassembly
— especially cable routing, derailleur position, headset spacer order. Phone photos save hours later. ---
