13.1 inspection

The "M-Check" (Pre-Ride, 60 seconds)

Walk the bike through the letter M shape, checking each point:

  • Standard workshop tools

Procedure

  1. Front wheel

    — quick release / thru-axle tight, tire pressure good, no bulges, brake pads not contaminated.
  2. Up to the bars

    — stem bolts firm, brake/shifter levers tight, brake function (squeeze each lever — should be firm, not pull to bar).
  3. Down to the BB / pedals

    — crank arms not loose (rock side to side), pedals secure, chain on correctly.
  4. Up to the saddle

    — seatpost not slipping, saddle tight, dropper functions if equipped.
  5. Rear wheel

    — axle tight, tire pressure, brake function.
