Procedure

  1. Remove wheels

    for thorough cleaning.
  2. Apply degreaser

    to the chain, cassette, chainrings, and derailleur pulleys. Let sit 2–3 minutes.
  3. Scrub drivetrain

    with a stiff brush. A chain cleaning device speeds the chain part.
  4. Apply soap

    to the entire frame.
  5. Scrub frame, wheels, and components

    with a soft brush.
  6. Rinse thoroughly

    — make sure no soap residue remains on rotors or pads (they're sensitive to contamination).
  7. Dry with a microfiber towel.
